Musical Opportunities.

As part of the wider structure of the Band, we provide opportunities for ensemble playing for Band members.

We currently have a clarinet choir and a wind quintet which are organised and run by players from the relevant sections. The clarinet choir rehearses on the second Friday of each month from 7.30 p.m. until

9.00 p.m. and the wind quintet on the first Tuesday of each month at the same times. Please contact us for information about both of these groups.

We are also aiming to introduce a flute choir  and a brass ensemble in the near future.

Our first concert of 2019 was held at St Chad's Church in Wybunbury on the evening of Saturday 13th April.

The concert was organised by Barry Simmons, who is a member of our clarinet section. It was very well supported by members of the Church congregation and of the wider local community.

We chose a varied programme of music ranging from classical pieces and pieces based on Church music to popular pieces such as a selection from 'Mary Poppins' and 'Hallelujah' by Leonard Cohen.

Four of our pieces featured soloists from the Band. These were Elizabeth Cuttell ( oboe),

Wendy Wootton ( flute), Mark Wheeler ( clarinet) and Nicola Letts ( alto saxophone).

The concert was brilliantly compered by John Dwyer.
