Crewe Town Council

Since the formation of the South Cheshire Concert Band in November 2014 we have been fortunate to receive regular support from Crewe Town Council, in the form of grants to help with the purchase of equipment and music.

We are very grateful for this support and hope it will continue in the future.

Musicians wanted

South Cheshire Concert Band has vacancies for players of woodwind, brass and percussion instruments, who have reached the standard of Associated Board Grade 5 or equivalent. We also have a vacancy for an experienced keyboard player.

If you would like to join us, please contact our secretary via the contact form on our Home page or come along to a rehearsal on a Wednesday evening at Wistaston Memorial Hall, Crewe. CW2 8EZ

Don't be shy, come and try it out!

Musical Opportunities.

As part of the wider structure of the Band, we provide opportunities for ensemble playing for Band members.

We currently have a clarinet choir, a saxophone ensemble and a brass ensemble. These are organised and run by players from the relevant sections and are open to all Band members.

Please contact us for further information about these groups.

Recent events

We are very pleased to announce that the Band has now reformed and we held our first rehearsal since March 2020 on the evening of Wednesday 1st September.

We have continued to rehearse every week and have been able to do so safely by taking care to observe the Government's guidance relating to Covid 19, namely maintaining social distancing, ensuring our rehearsal room is well ventilated and making use of the hand washing / sanitising facilities provided in the Memorial Hall.

We had planned to give a Christmas Concert for members of the local community and had also been asked to carry out at least one Christmas engagement for Crewe Town Council but, due to the on going concerns about the spread of the virus, these have been cancelled.

Hopefully, we may be able to arrange to give a concert in the spring of 2022 but this will be dependent on Government guidance at the time.

In the meantime, we will continue with our weekly rehearsals so we can develop and expand our repertoire in readiness for our first public performance, whenever that may be!
